The invention relates to a power supply unit for supplying power to one or more power consuming units, where the power supply unit comprises a wireless connection coupling and where the power supply unit, via a wireless remote control unit, can receive control signals. Such power generating devices are available in many variants. A commonly used power supply unit is a distribution box with one or more power outlets to which can be connected eclectic equipment, such as computers, printers, vacuum cleaners, etc. Generally, there is a requirement to limit power consumption, especially the "hidden consumption" of appliances that use resting current, such as standby computers. To solve this problem, distribution boxes have been developed which, via a simple remote control as is known for use with TV sets, make it possible to connect and disconnect the power outlets from the distribution box. This requires a standalone remote control that users know is often forgotten or misplaced. It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a remote control which is always at hand and does not undesirably "disappear" from the user. The object of the invention is met by a power supply unit of the type specified in utility model claim 1, characterized in that the remote control unit is a smartphone type communication unit.
